Hi everyone, I’m Jez. I’m a sports coach & coach educator but I’m also a Dad & like many of you I’ve been attempting to home school my daughter since the schools closed. I thought I would share some ideas around fun & simple activities you can do with your child to help continue their development in PE. The activities I'm sharing are focused on early years & key stage 1 & will concentrate on developing fundamental movement skills - the Abc’s - agility, balance & coordination as well as running, jumping, throwing & catching. Even if you don’t have a lot of space - indoor or outdoor, these activities can hopefully benefit your child’s physical development. Most of the activities do not need a lot of equipment - in fact I’ve tried to use items & toys that you’ll find around the house. I hope you enjoy them & find them useful. Clap Catch is a simple ball activity that can help develop your child's throwing, catching and coordination skills as well as improving their counting and numeracy. The equipment needed is minimal - you just need some sort of ball. This can be a football, tennis ball, soft ball - in fact any ball or balloon is suitable. The activity is suitable for children in early years and key stage 1 (nursery, reception class, year 1 and year 2) but can also be played by any aged child (or adult!) who wants to develop their throwing and catching skills.

Rainbow Challenge is a simple movement colour-based activity that can help develop your child's agility, running and jumping skills as well as improving their knowledge and awareness of colours. The equipment needed is minimal - a range of items and toys that you would find about the house - but they all need to be a different colour! The activity is suitable to be played indoors and outdoors and does not require a lot of space. The activity is suitable for children in early years and key stage 1 (nursery, reception class, year 1 and year 2) and as many children can play at once.

With more fans engaged than ever before, thanks largely to social media and the increased media profiles of its stars, the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France lies waiting on the horizon and with it the opportunity for both the interest in, and commercialization of, the women’s game to reach new heights. At Soccerex Europe, taking place just a few months after the FIFA Women’s World Cup, leading figures from the women’s game united to look back at the tournament and the impact it can have upon levels of participation, media coverage and financial growth in the sport. They also looked at what can be done to address the many inequalities in comparison with the men’s game and make football more accessible to girls and women across the continent.
